Over het boek
In his first book, plant photographer and professional botanist Maarten Christenhusz, shows a great diversity of plant life. The forms and shapes of plants are inexhaustible. Through his photographs Maarten shows plants throughout their development from seedling to seed, from trunk via leaf to flower and fruit, and illustrates various adaptations of leafs and flowers.

Maarten Christenhusz was born in 1976 in Hengelo, the Netherlands. He studied Biology in Utrecht, graduation in the history of botany. He did study projects in the National Herbarium of the Netherlands, the Utrecht Botanic Gardens and the Leiden Hortus Botanicus. In 2002 he moved to Turku, Finland to work as a researcher in the Amazon Research Team, for which he studies neotropical ferns, and which allowed him to travel. He developed a hobby in photographing plants which lead to the launch of his website in 2006. In 2007 he got his PhD in Turku. In 2008 he moved to London to study plants at the Natural History Museum.
