Over de maker
Stephen D. James began his study of architecture and urban design after living abroad for two years in the German Democratic Republic. He graduated with honors in 1998 with a M Arch degree from the University of Minnesota. After practicing for a number of years at the Minneapolis office of HGA, he returned to Utah and now resides in Salt Lake City. He spends his summers cycling, climbing and backpacking with his family and his winters on the slopes. He directs master planning, urban design and architecture efforts for the Kennecott Land Development Company. This Rio Tinto subsidiary is transforming post mining land into Daybreak, a 4,200 acre sustainable, transit oriented, and walkable new town that is striving to stem the negative impacts of sprawl in the Salt Lake Valley and demonstrate an alternate path forward for developers and suburban towns.
