Over het boek
A book for every time of the day: story time, bed time or time to learn. One things for sure it's Animal Time! With rhymes about some of the world's favourite animals this book is sure to be a hit with your little ones.
While rhyming during reading with your child is lots of fun, research has also shown that it is beneficial for your little one. Specifically, rhyme can have an impact on language and educational development (Stainthorpe & Hughes, 1998). Reading with rhyme has been found to improve a child’s ability to retain and predict appropriate words in story telling (Read, 2014). Evidence has been found for the benefits of rhyme in children’s ability to predict words (Read, Macauley & Furay, 2014), and this predictability has been positively associated with the learning of new words (Ramscar, Yarlett, Dye, Denny, & Thorpe, 2010). Rhymes have been associated with heightened phonological sensitivity (the level of awareness of the sound and structure of words), and this can lead to better reading ability later for children (Hayes, 2011). Additionally, children have been found to enjoy rhymes over other prose as a source of reading (Hayes, Chemelski, & Palmer , 1982). This means that your child is learning while having fun!
