Dr. J. Ashley Nixon is a photographer, filmmaker, writer, consultant and university teacher exploring sustainability and performance in Canada, Peru and elsewhere in the world.

Ashley earned his Ph.D. in ecology, studying environmental changes associated with woodland restoration on the beautiful island of Rum in the Scottish Hebrides. Following an international career in the energy industry, his work brings together his expertise in sustainability management with visual storytelling and technical writing. He teaches courses in sustainability and writing about images at Mount Royal University and is a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society.
