For our third magazine, we asked members to tell us why they are drawn to street photography in particular. While there are a variety of reasons for engaging in street photography, several common threads emerge. We enjoy interacting with the street itself, exploring the light and shadows, colours, movement, reflections, and the people that inhabit the sidewalks, cafés and bars. Some of us aim to document a specific moment in time while others seek to capture an emotion or the feel of the street itself. Still others endeavour to elevate the everyday and mundane street scenes that many of us walk by without fully noticing. For all of us, street photography is an adventure: the search for something new and unexpected within the urban landscape. We hope that you not only enjoy the images in this magazine but that you are also inspired to see the world through the street photographer’s lens.
