The author tells the story of the Weir dynasty (his mother's family) starting in the Victorian and West Australian goldfields. The story then goes back to the 8th century, following through the line of de Vere's to the Norman conquest of Britain, and on to the Protestant reformation of Scotland. Through the story you will meet people like Charlemagne, William the Conqueror, Williams the Lion, Scottish martyr John Brown, Major Weir who was the last person hanged in Scotland for witchcraft, Shakespeare, Robbie Burns and more.
