On July 24th, 1944, the agricultural island of Tinian, sitting innocently, strategically, in the South Pacific, is brutally invaded by US forces. During the next ten days, 15,000 Japanese civilians are interned. The Americans wanted to secure Tinian because they want to establish an airbase for a bombing campaign, called Operation Forager, against Japan.

“School for the Enemy” is the powerfully inspirational true story of Telfer Mook, who, beyond language interpreter, is the mediator between the warring factions not only during the island of Tinian’s acquisition, but for the duration of the US mission. He impacts the explosively upheaved atmosphere on the island with trust, as he focuses on the well being of the children being held in captivity.
