You might see me here on the cover, holding a phone with hands that are, frankly, covered in flour. But this character you see is more than just a playful costume. She’s my way of honoring the incredible Southern women who have enriched my life, shared their tables, and taught me that the best ingredient in any recipe is a generous heart.

These women weren't just great cooks (though they were); they were forces of nature. They ruled their kitchens with love and wooden spoons, and their tables were places of refuge, conversation, and laughter. They showed me that food is a powerful way to nourish not just our bodies, but our souls.

The recipe for a perfect dish, however, needs one more vital element: a good laugh. My joy has always been in bringing a smile to someone’s face. I truly believe that laughter makes the gravy smoother, the biscuits fluffier, and the conversation sweeter. So, as you make these recipes, I hope they bring you and your loved ones as much joy and laughter as these women brought to mine.
