Over het boek
Huna is a short, illustrated fantasy novel inspired by Polynesian culture, folklore, and history. Utopia is illustrated through paintings of landscapes and people doing day-to-day tasks. Natives gather fruits like juicy mangos and ripe bananas in forests full of wet palm leaves and vibrant red hibiscus, or fish in grand canoes over turquoise, twisted waves, under the golden sun. Queens keep their shoulders straight and chin up. Culture is scattered throughout with things like tribal tattoos, thatched huts, and food. Fantasy elements come from folklore, like the menehune, as well as invented creatures like alligator-sirens. Each piece works to condense the tranquil land into this book, titled Huna.
