The Loyal Orange Order parades on the 12th July each year to commemorate William III's victory over King James in what was one of the important key European battles of the Enlightenment between those who fought for the divine rights of Kings to rule nation states and those who believed that nation states should be ruled by Parliaments thereby restraining the power of absolute monarchs. William III's victory at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690 ensured that the Dissenters, Covenanters and Protestant Ulster-Scots today (September 2014) remain within the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
