Photography began for me at about age twelve, snapping pictures of my dog with a Kodak box camera borrowed from my mom. My interest grew in the 1950s, when I had an opportunity to learn darkroom skills from a professional photographer. I was able to polish those skills in later years, progressing from film to digital imaging. My consulting work, and a second career teaching, required extensive travel and also rewarded me with many photographic opportunities (beyond the ones with grand- and great-grandchildren!).

I came to favor so-called “street photography”, because I believe that unposed images of people best reflect the essence of a place, not the views of landscapes, buildings, or monuments. These are the images that, years later, bring back the feelings of “being there”.
