Over het boek
On April 26th 1986 reactor 4 of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant exploded causing the worst nuclear disaster the planet has ever seen. 3km south of the Chernobyl power station was the small city of Pripyat with a population of approximately 50,000 men, women and children. In the hours after the disaster the population looked on unaware of the deadly radiation cloud that was being blown over their city. 36 hours later the soviet authorities started the evacuation telling the residents to pack a single suit case and they would be able to return to their homes in 3 days. The evacuation was completed in just 3 hours, however the residents would never return.
25 years later and the ghost city of Pripyat still stands. I visited the city twice in September 2011.
