I Take Thee Kids, Too Photographs by Barbara Field Shaw
Capturing people, especially kids, when they're at ease and giving me something authentic of what they're feeling at that moment is a treasure: cunning, joy, tender mischievous, sad. These kids are magical, and I feel I know them on a deeper level and I am so drawn to them with these moments I had with them.

Over de maker
In the past, as a painter and sculptor, I have also created commissioned public art installations. Currently, as a photographer, I apply a painter's eye to the process of selecting, framing and composing the image. At seven years old, I had no problem hooking my own bait for the chance to fish with him on the pier. This among other independent actions, made my father proud of me and is one of the many memories of our sacred, silent bonding ritual. We stood patiently together with the water holding our gaze, our thoughts free to wander and ponder possibility in peaceful silence. Now I am exploring the ways in which some images penetrate a disarmed consciousness and bring forth an introspection of memories, feelings and possibilities.
