Over het boek
70 degrees south, my travels for the whales
is a journal about three unique expeditions to the Southern Ocean on a Greenpeace ship. Despite a moratorium on commercial whaling Japan still hunts whales. This happens every summer in a whale sanctuary near Antarctica, under the guise of "scientific research".
The book is a collection of weblogs through which I describe how I experienced these journeys as an inflatable boat driver and deckhand. I was not only inspired to write, but also to photograph the wildlife and beautiful surroundings. The photos and my experiences will take you through the last three Greenpeace anti-whaling expeditions in 2005-2006, 2007 en 2007-2008.
