Over

I make mixed-media artworks, usually involving my own original photography. For more than 30 years, I've been exploring the various ways to combine multiple images, often with other materials and text, to expand the language of still photography beyond the limitations of single-frame imagery. My materials and methods include analog & digital photography, painting, drawing, assemblage, woodworking, mixed-media, text, and alternative/historical photo methods. I like to make new things and intentionally evolve and expand my ways of thinking.

My work is included in the permanent collections of 16 art museums, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the California Museum of Photography, the Columbus Museum of Art, and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

Professionele connecties

I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, and will always consider myself a mid-westerner. I grew up with grids, and I love 'em.

I finished my MFA (at Florida State University) in 1990, and began teaching art and photography the same year at Carson-Newman University, in Tennessee. I'm still at Carson-Newman University teaching, and previously served as the Chairperson of our Art Department for 13 years. As Director of Exhibitions at C-N, I have curated more than 250 exhibitions of art.
