Over het boek
I've seen NYC in the aftermath of 9/11 and Hurricane Sandy.
I've stood with my city in solidarity. I continue to stand.
I've witnessed a city come together in the past and in the present.
I am hopeful for our future.
As people sit in quarantine so do our streets.

Tanya Gale Velardo has been telling stories for most of her life. Tanya moved to the country of Moldova (Eastern Europe) in 2003. As friends welcomed her into the narrative of their lives, she began to find her own story. Tanya went on new adventures and was introduced to new customs and traditions. And, her camera became her constant companion. Along the way, Tanya discovered she had the ability to tell a story through a lens. The stories surrounding Tanya have shaped her life. They have transformed her into the woman and photographer she is today. In 2012, Tanya moved close to family in New York City. Harlem has become home. Families have welcomed Tanya into their life and community. Children continue to be born, families continue to desire to capture moments, weddings continue to be celebrated, and people are impacting people every day. Your story has significance. Your story has power. It belongs to no one else. Your story is yours. Allow Tanya to capture your story.
