Over het boek
'The Elephant’s Claw' is a collection of twelve 'strange stories', set within an idealised post-war Britain – when the NHS was still new, when international travel was beyond the reach of most, when telephones were mostly to be found in red boxes on street corners, when tenement slums were bulldozed to make way for brutalist modernism, and people enjoyed picnics, pipe-smoking and periodicals. Just like any other era in human history, it was a time of fear, loss, and confusion – endured by most with a stoic sense of silent, pensive dread.
