Everyone has a place in their heart that brings back childhood memories. Like the drugstore prints I knew as a kid, as we grow older, some memories alter and fade and we start to look at them differently. Bodega Bay has held a very special place in my heart since I was a child. Taking trips with my grandparents to their beach house were some of my fondest memories from my childhood. For the past two years I have been revisiting this space to reflect on these memories. I have reflected on how I experienced the beaches, the cow fields, and the house that I knew so well as a kid. As I began this project, I was interested in a nostalgic look at my past. However, as I continued to work, I began to see Bodega Bay not just for the vacation home I once knew, but also as a place of residents with a vibrant community. Within this town that is filled with beautiful beaches and farm land I have found a sense of quietness that I have continued to explore through my work.
