Val Johnson is a visual artist from Canberra ACT, Australia. She is a Fellow of the Royal Art Society of NSW Sydney. She also is a member of Urban Sketchers Canberra, and other local art societies. Val has travelled widely and has recorded her journeys in art forms and visual diaries. Val enjoys painting still life, portraits, landscapes and miniatures. Drawing also forms an important part of her art practice. She has been able to take other artists to outback Australia to paint over the past eight years. Exhibiting widely, Val has won numerous awards for her artwork, and is represented interstate and overseas. Throughout her career Val has had a number of joint and solo exhibitions and has given workshops in ACT, NSW and QLD, Australia. Val is passionate about drawing. She always carries a sketchbook, as an idea can appear at any time. She enjoys travelling, writing and poetry, and her writings have become an important part of reference for her for painting.
