Over het boek
Birds, dogs, uncomfortable conversations in an attempt to give voice to the voiceless. To listen.
Whether this is a cookbook or a eulogy is unclear - in its pages however, contain some of the most genuine words contributed by the most interesting humans who were kind enough to bare their hearts and souls in complete blind trust.
At more than 220 of the highest-quality pages, BACKBONE includes over 40 pages of interviews with some of the most insanely talented (and sometimes purely insane) humans from multiple countries, chronicling birth, death and every uncomfortable gory detail in between.
BACKBONE is a cursed item, celebrating humanity at its most sacred and profane.
A severely limited edition to be consumed and owned by a select few, never to be reprinted.

Over de maker
With a lifelong interest in art, music and science, Brendan O'Connor began his career as a tattooer in 2005 when he completed a traditional apprenticeship under Andrew Stephens and Swirly Sinatra in Meanjin - Brisbane, Australia. Since then, Brendan’s career has taken him to many diverse domestic and international locations, including Japan, Germany, New Zealand, and many parts of South-East Asia. His work encompasses many different facets of contemporary and traditional Japanese=style tattooing, which he accomplishes with grace and care. Despite this, Brendan openly acknowledges that he is an outsider to Irezumi and can merely imitate with the highest respect and admiration for the true Japanese masters of the craft. Often in his work, Brendan will seek to include elements and imagery which reflect his own world experience and mixed Australian heritage.
