Ann Maddock is a lifelong educator with a career spanning 45 years. Ann was a state and national award winning science teacher for 25 years before she was appointed as Teacher Advisor to the Governor of North Carolina from 2001-2009. She has served as an education policy consultant to state and national leaders. Ann began photographing hummingbirds in 2009 as a hobby. Her background in biology made her a quick study as she observed various species and built her knowledge about these birds. As her photography skills improved, her natural interest in the habits, behaviors, and characteristics of hummingbird species became a guiding influence in the selection of her photographic subject matter. Ann and her husband live on Hatteras Island, North Carolina.
