Splotch Monster Island is an imaginary land where watercolor paint splotches come alive, and magical tales of kindness, hopes and dreams come true. The twenty Splotch Monsters featured in this book are from a collection of works that husband and wife duo Kris and Steve Loya collaborated on during the spring of 2020, and was created in response to the looming pandemic and the feelings of isolation and anxiety it caused people to experience. Our aim, when creating the Stop and Smell the Flowers series, was to make other people happy and transport them to another time and place, made for both children, and children at heart to enjoy, no matter what age.
