Inaugurated in Spring of 2018, WINDOW DRESSING is an annual cycle of short-term installations in the window vitrine on the exterior of the Cerritos College Fine Arts Building. Individual installations usually run for just two weeks only.

With such short runtimes, documentation of these installations has become an integral component of the process and this catalog is the result of that detailed recording. Of course, as public art installations, these works are, first and foremost, meant to be experienced directly, so that visitors can engage with the installations through movement and duration, as much as through sight. As such, it should be noted that this catalog doesn’t really do justice to these wonderful exhibitions ... and never could.

Previous installations have included everything from elaborate light displays to colorful sculptural formations, from one-off fashion catwalks to a week-long endurance performance featuring the ongoing manipulation of 200 pounds of fresh clay. Visitors are encouraged to experience these temporary installations directly and in person, if and when they can.
