Over het boek
Though its bleak, sardonic tone has alienated it from most of Buffalo’s literary community, The Beast is perhaps the most symptomatic product of its surroundings. The decaying industrial zones, the drink-addled denizens, the palpable, dysfunctional propinquity. The city is a schizophrenia, and The Beast embraces this loathsome exuberance beyond its rightful limits.
Between 2007 and 2009, and under the occasional pseudonym, Stephen Douglas contributed various pieces on culture and politics. These essays – alternately deadpan and snotty, impetuous and insightful – attempted to advance The Beast’s recalcitrant spirit.

Stephen Douglas
New York, NY
Stephen Douglas is, like, this guy. He has a dark sense of humor about the positive things in a negative life, and vice vice versa. His favourite colours are cerulean and gray, and he almost uncertainly doesn't fail to not be a fan of opposite day. He can be reached at stphn.dgls@gmail.com
