Years ago on a first trip to Yellowstone National Park I was struck by the colors to be found in the flows of the steaming hot waters. While others focused on the dramatic geysers and held up traffic to watch buffalo and elk, I found myself looking closely at the edges of pools and streams and admiring the wealth of abstract patterns and textures formed by the delicate yet hardy life forms that survive in these hostile environments.
In 2008 the time had come to revisit Yellowstone and make a serious effort to capture the grandeur of Yellowstone in its intimate details. Here are some of the images from that trip.

Hanford St. Gallery
291 Hanford St., Sutter Creek, CA 95685
Hanford St. Gallery offers Fine Art, Crafts and Photography by emerging and established artists working in both contemporary and traditional areas. Our goal is to: Provide the community with opportunities to experience the visual arts with a fresh perspective. Build a learning environment that integrates the arts into everyday life. Introduce new ways of seeing that allow art to inform how we interact with the world. Create relationships with the schools that bring art into the lives of young people. Foster an understanding of art as a way of being; not just something to admire (or criticize) from a distance.
