They say, "If you give a woman a hand out, you will leave her helpless. But if you teach a woman a skill, she will change her world by becoming self-reliant, empowering her to teach this skill to others and one woman at a time, India will change."





Two remarkable organizations aided the production of these images and work daily to change the lives of women in India. These organizations are Self Employed Women's Association and Guild of Service. To the remarkable women we met, I dedicate this book of photographs.

I am a working artist who taught photography, web design for artists and artist book classes full time at Northern Kentucky University and Metro State University for 41 years. I began making blurb books the first day I got a notice that blurb existed. Since then I have made quite a few for myself, gotten friends and family to make books, and used blurb when I taught my courses in artist bookmaking and photography and whenever I taught study abroad classes. Blurb democratized bookmaking for the rest of us and for that I am grateful. Thank you Eileen.
