From 2005 – 2010, architect David Shove-Brown traveled extensively throughout Europe exploring architecture after-hours. In some cases, the closed entryways he saw were used to advertise the business behind, while in others, local residents had continuously painted and repainted the closed portals celebrating their favorite sports team, politician, or cartoon character. Regardless of the planning behind the design and décor, each closed door made a different, and oftentimes, dynamic statement. closed. showcases a diverse sampling of architecture and design after the sun goes down.

In addition to his practice, Mr. Shove-Brown is a guest faculty member at the Catholic University School of Architecture and Planning. David has been presented with architectural awards from groups such as American Collegiate Schools of Architecture, the American Institute of Architects + Washington Architectural Foundation and American Architectural Foundation. Most recently, David has been honored with the Weib Award, the Washington Architectural Foundation’s award for Architecture in the Public Interest.
