Over het boek
In 2010 the authors became interested in researching the location of Shortland's Bluff Battery; the first defence structure at Port Phillip Heads, Victoria, Australia. The site is now part of Fort Queenscliff and was presumed to have been demolished in 1879 when construction of this forts upper and lower battery were commenced. Extensive research led to the discovery that the 1863 ammunition magazine had been incorporated into the new fort structure; almost in original condition. Further research of plans held in the Australian National Archive has also revealed the form of the lost elements of the original Battery; now reproduced for the first time.
