Over het boek
Slavery was banned in Nepal in 2001.
Overnight, in the middle of the monsoon season, thousands of bonded labourers were made homeless by their former employers.
To survive they formed small communities such as the one pictured here situated in the hardwood forests of the Kailali district of Western Nepal.
Ten years later they are still waiting for the government to offer them permanent settlements.
This book records life within the community.
