Over het boek
Victoria, and her photographer husband Nigel, after bouts of wandering about, have moved into a ‘ not quite their own’ home. But this period of rootedness inspires Victoria to invite some of their friends to share a ‘ long weekend’ with them there. The moods of the place with its rural setting, the interactions of the people that come (Ellie, the newly widowed actress, James, an old workmate with his wife Nan, May, a single mum, Douglas, an ex-pat, and Keith, smarting from his recent divorce) and the ongoing problems that each carry with them, provide the ‘glass shards’ of this story – a kaleidoscope of moments of existence.
