Over het boek
“Suspicious Activities” is a collection of paintings and works on paper that explores the militarization of language and the actions too often hidden behind the words. A critical gaze is focused on the speech and acts of the Bush Administration and the process of corporate globalization. For example he words of the US government Used when the levees broke in New Orleans, Louisiana, and during the Iraq war bear a striking similarity. The obvious lack of a clearly articulated policy to end the murders of Blacks in Darfur, Sudan, and Blacks in urban Washington D.C., reveal an eerie resemblance. Also the terms used for the occupation of Baghdad are as duplicitous as those used for the destabilization of Black residents in Washington, D.C. and Louisiana. Was the terminology created and used to cloak the actions and inactions of the United States government? Has our vocabulary been manipulated to veil the political agendas of those forming US policy?
