Over het boek
Brigitte Marquard grew up in post WWI Germany and hoped to attend art school. Instead, her parents insisted she enroll in a rigorous course in baby nursing at Stuttgart's Kinderspital. There she met and fell in love with a Jewish physician, Dr. Hans Steiner, whom she married in 1932. Three years later the couple and their two young children fled Hitler Germany for America.
After years of hard work and sacrifice the young woman, now known as "Bridget," became both a successful commercial artist and accomplished photographer. She took the photographs shown in this book while on vacation in Europe during the 1950s.
