The cliffs of Howth are known for their scenic views and popular walk ways. A lot of people find themselves lost or have died while exploring the cliffs, which many people do not realize. It is the Irish Coast Guard's responsibility to respond to the distress calls made regarding cliff or coastal emergencies. Howth Coast Guard is the local voluntary rescue unit that operates out of a base on the West Pier at Howth Harbor. They prevent the loss of life on the coasts, waterways, and cliffs in North Dublin. Their team of twenty six volunteers provide a 24/7 on-call cover and specialized training to respond to local coastal emergencies. They are a close group of light hearted individuals of all ages, gender, height and weight that work together to make an incredible team.
