In WWII New Guinea, GUINEA GOLD's brief was to present news to all troops "in the field" and to avoid editorial comment. It published for 1320 continuous days, without missing a single edition. The front and back pages concentrated on current world news, including major sporting events. Page 2 was generally devoted to extracts from Australian and US newspapers. Some news was obtained by taking shorthand notes of short-wave radio bulletins from Australia, the U.S. and the B.B.C. At its peak, distribution was 37,000 to US forces and 27,000 to Australian forces, daily. That's 34 million copies in two years. Maximum readership was estimated at 800,000. This SPECIAL retrospective edition was created as my father thought it important enough to keep ten copies in his footlocker once he made it home from his war. My father was assigned to MacArthur's HQ, originally in Brisbane, and thereafter to Hollandia, Tacloban and Manila. Along the way he collected several souvenirs, of which these GUINEA GOLD newspapers are a historic highlight. Two print editions are being released - a normal print-on-demand softcover edition and a SPECIAL HARDCOVER EDITION in choice of Dust Cover or Image Wrap. There is a strictly limited number of SPECIAL EDITIONS available - Ten. Why only ten? The book GUINEA GOLD comprises ten complete editions of the newspaper. Each of these limited hardcover editions will include one of the ORIGINAL copies of GUINEA GOLD, in all its faded, torn, creased and battered glory, as featured within its pages. It will be the ORIGINAL as featured in the publication. To claim your original, order the SPECIAL HARDCOVER EDITION. Then send me your proof of purchase (by forwarding your sales receipt confirmation e-mail from Blurb to me at exo@rockforce.org and I will post you one of my father's original GUINEA GOLDs as featured.

Through the Corregidor Historic Society and, more recently the 503d PRCT Heritage Regiment., Paul presents thirteen publications, all connected in some way with Corregidor and the US Armed Forces in the SWPA during WWII. He started developing the Corregidor.Org website about the 1941-42 siege and the 1945 retaking of Corregidor as, so he calls it, a 'penance' for his career as an insolvency lawyer. Now retired, he has produced ten websites, more than twenty Military History books, and has co-produced, with Peter Parsons, the documentary of the 1945 retaking of Corregidor - "CORREGIDOR - THE ROAD BACK. He married Rosie in 1980, has three adult children, and hates cats. Lately, he has indulged his muse as a photographer and design-layout creator, authoring several books he calls "frolics" - personal retrospectives. Though highly individual, he doesn't expect them to sell as do his military books, so he has set them on "full preview" so you can get to enjoy them free.
