Over het boek
A collection of images from Ancoats and the surrounding area in Manchester.
This is the first book in a series which will use areas of Manchester and Salford as subject and inspiration for images.
The photographs are not meant as a documentary catalogue. Rather more they capture the 'unseen' aspects of the area and regard it's many uses. Ancoats is an area which has been vital to the growth of not only Manchester but of Britain, deserted and left to fall into ruin for years. The area has recently undergone another change in the form of residential flats, but has again found itself with an uncertain future.
For the images I have sought out form, repetition and structure. The photographs seek out more architectural elements within the area and show how cities are used and re-used for different purposes. It's an area which shows its history and uses within its walls.
