Over het boek
While this is a study of a landscape once destroyed in the First World War, the photographs in this book are about the modern landscape. The photographer shows us an area that has been restored to a fertile land of farms and woodland. This work was made over a period of nearly fifteen years and so also shows the changes within the landscape, not only after 90 years of recovery work but also in the duration of the photographic project. The photographs illustrate the areas of Ieper (Ypres) in Belgium, and Le Cateau, the Somme, Arras, the Chemin des Dames, Cambrai, and Verdun in France.
