This is the record of a trip taken by the authors in June of 2007 to the northwest corner of Italy. We had planned the first part on our own and spent it at two location on Lake Como.

Following that, we joined a Sierra Club trip that carried out day hikes from three locations in the southern Alps: The Cottian Alps and the Maritime Alps, of Italy and France.

A highlight was to follow the (possibly) foot steps of Hannibal in his invasion of 218 BC.
