Over het boek
This book is a partial survey of Manitoba’s southern tier’s remaining wooden grain elevators and steel bins . Many of these elevators will be gone or demolished within the next 10 - 20 years due to insurance, deferred maintenance or fire. Each year the remaining number of these elevators declines. This is a book of black and white photographs of some of these grain industry legacy buildings that were landmarks on the Southern Manitoba horizon and a cultural, social and commercial feature of daily life for many in the province. Many towns are known by their elevators and elevator rows. Today these former elevator rows and the history associated with them is at risk.
