In the preface of the original book in the Czech language the author, and my late father, Josef Kurz, explains why he wrote it.
He was approached by a woman who wanted to leave behind for her children and grandchildren more than just materialistic possessions, but “something spiritual”. She requested that it would contain three parts: 1. Declaration of faith, 2. Admonitions, 3. Encouragement.

He accepted and later wrote:
“…When I finished the book I realized that it crossed the boundaries of the originally intended purpose and became more broad-based. It is a compilation of everything that any newborn person can give to younger generations as a ‘spiritual inheritance’ at the end of his/her life. You might say that this is nothing new. Of course. It was Christ who brought us the absolutely new guiding principles and passed it on to us through Apostles…”

Loosely translated and much abbreviated, his book “Odkaz” (The Legacy) became this small booklet you are holding in your hand. We hope that the essential message was not lost in the process and that you will find it helpful.
