Over het boek
“The City Rises” is a mosaic of interconnected stories about a changing city, Milan, and its inhabitants. Victims and perpetrators that include a mayor, a construction worker, an old trade unionist, a young barista, and a Tunisian girl. Urban stories that
intersect and disperse, inspired by Futurist artist Umberto Boccioni's painting by the same name. Exploitation, identity and integration are explored, using lightness as a counterpoint for tragedy, allowing us to examine these universal themes
from multiple points of view.
The collection, curated by Kairos Italy Theater, features the plays that have won the annual Mario Fratti Award for Italian playwrights.
