Over het boek
The porosity paradigm explores the relationship between the subject and its environment. This research focuses on investigating the relevance of porosity and the several ways and scales it can be manifested through our space. The concept identifies the possibilities for design strategies that applies porosity in architecture through an ecological and social approach. This filter explores this idea through the concept of permeability, resilience, and the overall transparency within our space, using Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as a case study. Urban design in the last decade has neglected the potential risk factors deriving from the lack of consideration of a more permeable approach to manage and understand landscape. Which led to disasters that affected the natural and built environment. This phenomenon, creates social imbalances, displacing population, increasing pollution, and food scarcity. The porosity paradigm tries to demonstrate how rethinking an integrated urban morphologies and open systems bring more sustainable, environmental, and a social perspective to architecture.
