Over het boek
If México is magical, it is also deep and cruel. Enduring constant interference from outside, México is an amalgamation of several countries. In spite of the enormous cultural differences between the inhabitants of the different regions of México, it is an immense, vibrant, and complex country of which foreigners can only ever have the most superficial understanding.
Chelsea Oland is a photographer based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and occasionally pursues freelance work in Mexico City and beyond. Chelsea’s work is greatly inspired by the spontaneity, the mystery and the universality of the fleeting moments that pass everyday life, moments that are simultaneously instant and eternal. Chelsea recently completed a photography residency with Casa Lu in Mexico City, where she released a book of her film photographs and participated in an exhibition during Mexico City’s annual art week. Chelsea graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities where she studied biology and fine arts. The two subjects have played a symbiotic relationship together, often incorporating natural elements into her photography work. Skilled in portrait, fashion, interior, architecture, product, landscape, food, documentary, nature, and wedding photography. Chelsea often specializes in 35mm and medium format film photography.
