Over het boek
Ask most people what birds they associate with New York City, and the response will probably be the ubiquitous Rock Pigeon, Starling, and House Sparrow. It may surprise many to learn that more than 200 species of birds are encountered annually in Brooklyn's Prospect Park alone, and at least 300 species can be found within the greater New York City area covered by this book. This book showcases not only the more common back-yard birds such as Cardinals, Mourning Doves, and Blue Jays, but many species of warbler, hawks, owls, woodpeckers, and shorebirds in migration, plus a few local rarities.
Most of the photographs in this book were taken in Prospect Park, a 585-acre oasis located in the heart of Brooklyn, New York. The images within represent just a small sampling of the variety of beautiful and colorful winged visitors that grace this urban landscape in any given year.
