Over het boek
Following World War II the Claremont Speedway resumed on Friday October 18, 1946 with its traditional program of Solo Motorcycle and Sidecar events. Several more successful meetings were held at the Showground venue. Then on Tuesday December 31, 1946 a new era commenced with the first appearance of a troupe of five eastern states Midget (Speedcar) drivers. They stayed in WA for several months and attracted large crowds to the Claremont track. This publication beings you the previously unknown story of that first post war season of racing at the famed Claremont Speedway. The newspaper reports of the day have been copied word for word, along with the complete race results. Also included are many photos from the Ken Wylie collection - with photos of the visiting cars that raced at Claremont - including the amazing "Rocket Car" plus photos of brothers Ken and Arthur Wylie racing at the Western Springs Speedway in Auckland, New Zealand.

Coolbellup Western Australia
I first attended the Claremont Speedway during the stock car days in the 1950s. In 1966 I answered an advertisement in a speedway newspaper to report on racing here in Western Australia. I have been doing that ever since. I have a very keen interest in the early days of speedway racing - and have spent many hours delving through the old newspapers of the day to try and bring this long forgotten speedway history to the general public.
